Candidacy Statement
Hello! My name is Norma Loehr and I would like to serve CRW as a Board member.
I joined the club just over three years ago when I first started cycling seriously. During this time, CRW has been an incredible resource as I have advanced from an enthusiastic beginner to, now, a ride leader.
As a board member, there are a couple of things I will want to emphasize during my service. The first is to enhance the number and variety of group rides, particularly led rides on weekends. I believe that a regular cadence of new and exciting rides can generate greater member participation as well as help us reach more cyclists and grow the club. The second is to develop strategies to improve the new member experience and to encourage existing members to become ride leaders. As you can see, these two objectives are deeply intertwined.
My professional history sets me up well for board service. For a number of years I worked in financial services at a large corporation, where I managed diverse groups with varying opinions on how to achieve organizational objectives. I believe those challenges are directly relevant to CRW board service. My subsequent experience starting and running my own ecommerce business has taught me about promotion, outsourcing, decision-making, and risk management in the context of a small enterprise. Again, highly relevant experience for CRW.
