Ride Description

**Route courtesy of  Steve Siegel**

Route Details:  Greylock Century, round trip from the municipal lot in West Stockbridge center, 102.5 miles, almost 10,000 feet of climbing.  Two major climbs, Petersburg Pass and Mt. Greylock -- but before Petersburg there are relentless small and medium climbs.  From the Greylock summit at 73 miles, this route is nearly all flat and downhill.  Nearly.  Much of the route is pastural, wooded, or forested and we significantly avoid main roads.  It's a beautiful route, and much of the pavement is good to excellent.

Suggested food stops:

43 miles:  Stewart’s, the first full stop, at Elm Street and Rt. 22 in Berlin, NY.  If you haven’t stopped at all before Stewart's, make sure to water up as the Petersburg Pass is between you and the next feed option.

62 miles:  Wild Oats Market on Rt. 2/320 Main Street in Williamstown, MA.  Whole Foods/Wegmans style prepared foods with fancy lunch options.  There is also a good bike shop, Spokes, just down Rt. 2 from here.

73 miles:  Water refill at the Greylock summit.

102.5 miles:  The end!  Food, restaurants, etc. in West Stockbridge.

Drop Protocol:  This will be a big group with a range of riding ability, so we are not planning to pedal the day as a single group.  There will be significant separation not only on the two major climbs, but on many shorter insidious climbs as well.   Please create a riding subgroup and agree to no-drop only within that group!  Think of it as you would a Climb-to-the-Clouds ride...
