On Sunday, January 19th Eli Post passed away. Eli has been a member of CRW since 1993, and was a strong supporter and incredible contributor to CRW and the broader cycling community.  Eli served in many capacities through his tenure in CRW – President, Secretary, WheelPeople Editor, Executive Vice President, Ride Coordinator, and on many committees. He will be missed.

Plans for a ride in celebration of Eli’s life will be developed and announced over the next few months.

If you have any pictures of Eli – please post them on “Contact Us” - through the "Member Submissions" topic area.

A sad day, but a great life.

Conte's bike shop in Lexington is having a seminar coming up January 30 at 7pm with the team from Mass General's Cardiac Performance Program. Some of you likely came to the shop last year around this time for their discussion on exercise intensity and cardiac remodeling. This year, Dr. Guseh will be revisiting some of that content but expanding upon it with a deeper discussion of his research on VO2 max and longevity.

Ride one loop or ride them all! But let’s not ride the trainer this day. Instead celebrate the shortest day of the year on this silly, social, six-loop ride that revolves around Lexington Center – or as we call it Lex Vegas!

    3 WAYS TO RIDE

    1) Full century: ride all 6 loops starting at 8 AM from Conte’s in Lexington. Emily Vigeant will champion the full route. Download Strava route here: https://www.strava.com/routes/3288833363787533828

    2) "Metric” century: ride the last 4 loops beginning at 10:30 AM. This is just shy of 73 miles, but “metric century” sounded catchier. Jay Sparks will champion this start from Conte’s. While we will all ride together as much as possible depending on group size and paces. Jay will welcome metric riders at Conte’s as the full century group rolls in from the first two loops. Here is the Strava route with just the last 4 loops: https://www.strava.com/routes/3289384147806921046

    3) Ad hoc: follow our live track to join/leave anywhere at any time. Whatever loops you want to ride, have it your way!

We encourage everyone to come out for at least one loop (~17 miles). If at any time you’re too cold, this is an easy route to hop off and head home or to stop and warm up inside. You’re never more than 10 miles from our hub at Conte’s in Lexington Center.

***This is an atypical ride. Please read full description at the link below to ensure you understand the logistics***

With the Thursday rides ending for the season, consider joining the email list of the Parkway Cycling Club - a small, friendly group running weekday, weekend and evening rides out of West Roxbury and Roslindale.  During the warmer months we send out a weekly newsletter offering a ride nearly every day, and when it gets colder, rides are on an ad-hoc basis via the email list.  Rides are rated by approximate speed, usually 10-12 mph, sometimes 12-14, sometimes 8-10.

Here's how to join the list:  https://bit.ly/Parkway_Cycling_email_subscribe
