Ride Description:

Take an easy ride, about 14 miles among bicycle-related historical sites with Larry Finison, author of the acclaimed books Boston's Cycling Craze, 1880-1900 and Boston's Twentieth Century Bicycling Renaissance. Visit and learn where bicycles were built, where bicyclists by the hundreds hung out and picnicked by the Charles River, and about Waltham's former bicycle racetrack. We will ride in a group -- nobody will be left behind.

Ride Start Location:

At the traffic light on Route 30 just west of Route 95/128, turn north onto River Road. The second right on River Road (after the Route 95 turn-off)  connects to Newton Boathouse Public Parking aka the Duck Feeding Area. Go under route 128 and turn right to enter the parking lot.

Commuter Rail, or if driving from Waltham: From Brandeis-Roberts station, take South St southwest and turn left onto Norumbega Rd after about 0.3 mi. (just before the climb up an overpass). Newton Boathouse Public Parking is at the end of Norumbega Rd, about another 0.4 mi. Train schedule is here; https://mbta.com/schedules/CR-Fitchburg/timetable. Returning to the station by bicycle, it is most pleasant to bear right from South Street onto Charles River Road, then left onto Angleside Rd and right through parking lots to the station.
