Ride Description:
Come enjoy some of the scenic back roads of Vermont on mixed terrain of asphalt, gravel and dirt. There will be opportunity to ride some class IV roads and maybe a chance to test your hike-a-bike skills! This trip will hub out of Montpelier, VT and we will drive/ride to many beautiful routes in the area. You must have the ability to transport your bike throughout this Adventure.
The leaders have secured rooms at the Capital Plaza Hotel until May 15, 2023 with a special room rate of $199 per night (plus tax and parking fees) for a deluxe double. Please identify yourself as part of the CRW Adventure Group for this rate. You are welcome to review the registrants log and find a roommate, but this coordination will be up to the individual. All costs (transportation/food/hotel), including hotel cancellation costs/loss of a roommate will be incurred by the participant. (Note: To book online at Hilton.com, choose “Special Rates” and use CRW as the Group Code). Please feel free to find other options for accommodations.
This trip is for intermediate gravel bikers with confident experience riding on various terrain, including mud (never know, right?). Your bike must have 38mm or wider tires. For your safety and comfort, we will not allow any exceptions. Due to the various road conditions, the pace will be hard to predict, but you should be able to maintain 14-15 mph of gravel flats.
Group dinners will be encouraged (tbd), however, you can eat according to your preferences. Riders will have to coordinate their own lunch/trail food; on-route lunch stops TBD.
What to bring beyond the bike: Swimsuit, never know might find a nice swimming hole, something to wear at night, a few bike kits and personal items. That’s it, easy! However, this is a hub adventure, so feel free to bring a full wardrobe as we are not carrying our gear!
Day 1 and Day 4 are shorter to accommodate our travel, however, they will still provide fun and challenge. Routes are subject to change, but will offer consistent distances and challenges. All routes have not been vetted recently, be prepared to roll with the adventure!
Ride Start Location:
Meet on June 15th at: 297 Junction Road, Montpelier at the Amtrak parking lot. Wheels roll at 1:00pm. We will check into the hotel after the ride.
