Ride Description:

The South Shore Coastal Loop is a beautiful tide that includes many miles of glorious Scituate, Cohasset, and Hull coastlines.  We'll ride though Rockland, Norwell, and Hingham on our way to and from the coast.    The long ride is 54 miles; the short ride is 41 miles.  Both rides are flat to rolling, with some short but steep sections to keep us honest.   Both rides includes the cottages on Jerusalem Road, 2 lighthouses, 3 Windmills, 4 harbors, and countless other Photo Ops and starts with a 4-mile downhill.   The long ride adds 12 miles of almost dead-flat riding along Nantasket Beach.

I haven't figured out how to about the uphill on the way back, yet!

Ride time is

  • 8:30 sharp, until memorial day weekend
  • 7:30 sharp, Memorial Day weekend - Labor day weekend
  • 8:30 Sharp, after Labor Day

Both the long and short rides start at 7:30 SHARP to avoid traffic.  Set your alarm clock for early Sunday morning.  you'll be glad you did.

We typically stop at Scituate Harbor for coffee at Coffee Corner or Dunkin, and for restrooms.  The long ride also stops at the Windmill in Hull gut.

Rain may cancel the ride, or show and go.  if the  weather is iffy, check this page Sunday after 6 AM.

Ride Start Location:

We start at the Park and Ride across from Home Depot.  There are no bathrooms in the Park and Ride, but there are two Dunkin Donuts and a Wendy's with 1 mile of the ride in Rt.  228.
