Ride Overview

Ride Description:

Circumnavigate the gorgeous coastline, marshes, quiet roads, and a few hills from Little Compton through Acoaxet, Adamsville, Sapowet Marsh, Fogland Beach, and Sakonnet Lighthouse. Hear the story of "Sin and Flesh", Rhode Island Red and other historic notes of the area along the way. Look it up or wait for the tour!

Lunch stop is in Tiverton Four Corners and we picnic at Gray's Ice Cream. Bring your own lunch or buy local. Groundswell - lovely foods. https://www.groundswellguild.com/locations/cafe-bakery

Tiverton Four Corners has galleries and shopping too. You'll want to come back.

Following the ride (weather dependent) we hit the beach at South Shore Beach, 140 South Shore Road 2.5 miles from the start - no lifeguard, free parking, sand beach, great water!  Then it's classic seafood dinner at Evelyn's Drive-In 2335 Main Road, Tiverton, RI before heading home. Call to ask about dietary options. If you are veggie/vegan - check Evelyn's menu for workarounds for a good meal. It can be done. https://www.evelynsdrivein.com/

Mike Schuttenberg created this route back in the 90's. Mike rode his last ride in April 2018 and passed in October from pancreatic cancer. He was a long time CRW member, AYH Leader and Mike loved nothing better than sharing a full day of laughter and conversation with friends, old and new. We hope you'll join us. I run this ride in honor of Mike.

Led Ride: (12-13 mph) and we use Arrows.   Show and Go - though everyone seems to stick together to learn all the history

Totally a social ride, lots of sights to see, history to chat about, dip your feet in the water kinda day as we stop or slow down to take in all the lovey ins and outs. And did you see the actual Fork to your left as you made a slight right onto Old Harbor Rd? (12.3)/

Back at the start by 3; hit the beach if you choose and at Eveyn's maybe by 6ish depending on how wonderful the beach is or how hungry we are! Some may skip the beach altogether.

Ride Start Location: and Time:

10:00: Please arrive 10 minutes before start time.

Find your own way to the Old Burial Ground, Commons Street, Little Compton, RI Put that in your GPS or use 48 Commons Street, Little Compon, RI. you'll be a few steps away from the actual start. On Street Parking.

No public restroom before the start. Porta Potty in Adamsville ~12.8m; Tiverton Four Corners 17.1m; and Fogland Beach 22.3m.

I get down early for breakfast and folks can meet me at 8a.m. if interested. I''ll be at Black Good Cafe: https://blackgoosecafe.com  or at Elsie's on the Common if it is open. I've got my fingers crossed for it and I'll update where Phyllis and I will be.
