Ride Description:
Important ride-day update for July 26
Parking: The Shannon Beach upper-lot gates are expected to open around 6:00 AM, but this is not guaranteed; they opened late last year. If the gates are still closed, park at Wedgemere Station and ride approximately 0.6 miles to Shannon Beach, where we will meet.
Facilities: Restrooms and water are advertised at Shannon Beach, but may not be open for our 6:30 AM start.
Start route: Depending on group size and morning conditions, we may use the Minuteman Bikeway instead of Mass Ave.
George Street: If you separately registered for the George Street Hill-Climb, please let Randolph know.
Major Taylor Century & George Street Challenge
A spirited, history-rich 106-mile out-and-back from Winchester to Worcester.
Timing is tight—riders MUST be able to hold a steady 15–17 mph moving speed and have a GPS device with the route loaded. If you are not comfortable at that pace, please choose another CRW ride; we will not slow the group or provide cue sheets.
MBTA bail-out option: Worcester Line trains accept bikes on weekends—handy if fatigue or mechanical issues strike. Carry fare and check the schedule before riding.
Ride Start Location:
Shannon Beach, Mystic River Path, Winchester, MA
Mandatory Equipment & Pace:
Riders unable to keep the advertised pace will be on their own for navigation and return.
