Ride Description:

The ride leaves PROMPTLY from the Minuteman Bikeway terminus near Alewife (at the intersection of three bike paths: Fitchburg Cutoff, Alewife Linear, and Minuteman). We head down the Minuteman Bikeway to Lexington Center, into Burlington, up Blanchard Rd to the water tower at Mary Cummings Park. We descend to beautiful Horn Pond for a photo op, spin past Mystic Lakes, and head back to Alewife via the Minuteman. We often stop for coffee at the finish.

Is this ride for me?

How do I figure out my average pace?

Pace/Ride Type:

13-16 mph, with regrouping where safe to do so. Faster riders may form groups to make their own time. Please have the route downloaded to your navigation device and be aware that you may be riding alone before regrouping occurs

LED RIDE; the group will stay together as much as possible, regroup where safe to do so, and ride at the advertised pace; slower riders may be dropped and finish on their own.

Ride Start Location:

Ride starts at the Minuteman Bikeway trailhead in Cambridge, on the north side of the Alewife MBTA parking garage, at the intersection of Steel Pl and Alewife Station Access Rd. This is the intersection of three bike paths: Fitchburg Cutoff, Alewife Linear, and Minuteman.

Parking Information:

Parking is available for a fee in the Alewife garage, 35 Cambridgepark Drive, Cambridge. When you emerge from the main parking garage on your bike, turn right and travel ~50 yards to the Bikeway trailhead which will be directly in front of you, across the access road.

Free parking can be found a few hundred yards down the path in Arlington (please arrive early to allow time to ride to start location):

  • Thorndike Field, 99 Margaret Rd
  • Spy Pond Park, 56 Pond Lane

Restroom: None at the start; there is usually a port-a-john at Thorndike Field in Arlington. No rest stops are planned for this ride.

Cancellation:

Rain or unsafe weather/road conditions cancels. Will make call by 10 pm the night before and confirm again at 6 am in case of unexpected weather.

The CRW Women's/Nonbinary Program's goal is to invite more women, nonbinary, and female-identifying folks onto the road, foster connection with others in the club, and act as an on-ramp to other co-ed areas of the club. Feel free to contact the ride leader via email if you have any questions about this ride or the Women's/Nonbinary Program in general.
