Ride Description:
The rolling hills route starts and ends at Woodman's of Essex, the mother of all lobster shacks. Woodman's used to only take cash, but they now accept credit cards at last. Even an old barnacle like me has to admit that some change at Woodman's is good!
Bathroom/regroup at 12.1 mi visitor center; Rockport Ice cream rest stop at 25.2 mi (but don't spoil your appetite).
There is an unpaved section around mile 20.5 that takes you to a beautiful beach, but you can skip this by staying on the main road, which will soon reconnect with the planned route.
Note that there are no bathrooms open the starting point at 9AM. The Mobil gas station on Main St. is your best bet.
Ride Start Location:
119 Main St, Essex, MA 01929 (Please park in the large lot in the back.)
Please arrive by 8:15, we roll at 8:30AM.
BREAKING NEWS: By incredible coincidence, there will be a Cystic Fibrosis fundraiser ride starting at Woodmans at 9AM. Hopefully not on exactly the same route. We will aim to depart before they do by rolling at 8:30AM so please arrive at 8:15 and find your fellow CRW riders in the back of the parking lot. (Woodman's is not concerned. They have a lot of lobster and clams.)
