Ride Description:

Latest ETA for the tall ships.  The smaller ships that fit under the bridges of the Cape Cod Canal will likely arrive in their mooring area off Deer Island during our ride.  The larger ships have taken a more southerly route that will put them near Provincetown around Noon Friday.  That's 7-8 hours away from Boston which puts their arrival around dusk or later on Friday, too late for them to be seen during our ride.  But, stuff happens.  Maybe we'll see a masthead before we leave the Island.  Please re-load the RWGPS route.  There have been some changes to omit riding in areas where there are no ships to be seen.

The tall ships are coming to Boston on July 11 2026 to parade into the harbor.

Since they be arriving over the preceding several days, let's beat the crowds and sneak in a preview the day before the main event.  We'll bike along the harbor shore and their mooring area off Deer Island. Not a regular venue for CRW rides but, with discrete use of the East Boston ferry and the multitude of bike paths, we miss the all the fun commercial traffic of Chelsea and Eastie.  Not a lotta climbing except up to the vantage point on Deer Island that overlooks the harbor.  About 34 miles but it'll take longer to do since there are ferry rides on both the outgoing and return legs.  $2.40 ferry fare each way.

Ride Start Location:

Dennehy Park in Cambridge, behind the Fresh Pond mall.

PACE:  Whatever suits you.  It's not a simple route to navigate. I'll ride with the slowest folks so no one bikes alone.
